Golden Gate Bridge: One Day Itinerary San Francisco

I don’t love waking up early, but it’s always worth it. Beat the crowds and get to the Golden State Bridge before sunrise for amazing photos. Make sure to pack sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat. Most people walk across the bridge to the Sausalito side because it gives you the best views of the Golden State Bridge. Pack comfortable walking shoes and consider taking the ferry back to save time.

Afterward, you’ll need some carbs to make up for those steps. Here are a few breakfast restaurants near the Golden State Bridge:

Sausalito Bakery & Cafe is famous for its freshly baked breads and pastries. Their salads and pasta are super fresh, and their coffee gets rave reviews.

Equator Coffees Round House Cafe Vegans come from all over to try their plant-based BLT. They also serve a pear-spiced latte, coffee spiced with orange blossom and cloves, and pour-over coffee. It’s a coffee connonssieur paradise.

Alcatraz Behind the Scenes Tour

Why Was Alcaraz Abondened?

Alcatraz is a small island in the San Francisco Bay, famously known as an inescapable prison. It once housed some of America’s most notorious criminals, including Al Capone and “Machine Gun” Kelly. The prison operated from 1934 to 1963 and built its reputation as inescapable due to its isolated location, risky currents, and state-of-the-art security detail.

Alcatraz’s era as a federal prison ended due to high operating costs and a cultural change in the way people viewed harsh punishment for prisoners. In 1969, some brave Native American activists called the Indians of all Tribes began an effort to occupy Alcatraz. They aimed to create a Native American-led school, cultural center, and museum. It was later considered part of the Red Power movement Today, Alcatraz Island is a popular tourist destination.
