History of Palau de la Musica Catalana

The Palau de la Música Catalana was designed by renowned architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner and built between 1905 and 1908 as the home for the Orfeó Català, a prestigious choral society. Every inch of the building celebrates music, culture, and creativity—from its colorful stained glass and intricate mosaics to its sculpture-filled facade. It’s not just a concert venue—it’s a work of art. In fact, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 for its architectural brilliance and cultural importance.

How to Palau de la Musica Catalana

The Palau is located in the Sant Pere neighborhood, just a few minutes from Plaça Catalunya and the Gothic Quarter.

• By Metro: Take the L1 or L4 lines to Urquinaona Station. From there, it’s about a 3-minute walk.
• By Bus: Several buses stop nearby, including V15, V17, 47, 19, H16, and D50.
• Tourist Bus: The Barcelona Bus Turístic (red and blue lines) stops at Plaça Catalunya, which is a short walk away.
