Wear whatever makes you feel beautiful. I feel most beautiful wearing long maxi dresses made of light fabrics. I recommend leaning towards the modern romantic, princesscore, or cottagecore aesthetic for cute photos. Opt for light pinks, whites, and other pastel colors. Bows, ribbons, and dainty jewelry will add a special je ne sais quoi to your picnic. Consider wearing Regency-inspired dresses if you want to lean into the Bridgerton aesthetic.

What to Bring to a Picnic

When planning a picnic, it’s best to keep your menu small. Transporting food, tableware, and decorations can take up a lot of space. I used a trolley, and it only took one trip, but the trail was a bit muddy, so bring proper footwear. A picnic basket is a must! Opt for a vintage-inspired picnic basket with a lid.

Food on the Picnic Blanket

For a stress-free picnic, I recommend a menu with foods that don’t have to be heated. English Tea sandwiches are easy to make and store well. A few typical tea sandwiches are egg salad, cucumber, and caprese wraps. The possibilities are endless.

I love seeing cakes and pastries at picnics. Strawberry shortcakes are one of my favorite picnic items. They taste so good and look great in photos. For variety, add macaroons, croissants, and pear pastries.

Grapes, watermelon, and strawberries are common fruits served at picnics. You can also add dairy or non-dairy cheeses and breads.

I love pretty drinks and bottles. They add to the picnic aesthetic. I don’t drink alcohol, but I love mocktails. Here are my favorite drinks to bring to a picnic:

If you choose to make hot food for your picnic, it’s pretty easy to keep it warm. An insulated casserole carrier is easy to carry and keeps everything nice and warm. You can also use a carafe for hot drinks.
