Did you know you can win a $50 gift card at the Burke Nursery and Garden Centre’s pumpkin patch? They’re hosting a photo contest, and winners will walk away with a gift card and bragging rights. The contest begins on September 20, 2024, and ends on Thursday, November 7.

You can find Halloween decorations and hay stacks; on weekends, they even have ponies. If you’re a foodie, you’ll be able to purchase apple cider donuts, peanuts, and, of course- pumpkins!

Cox Farms : The Most Popular Pumpkin Patch in Virginia

Cox Farms is probably the most popular pumpkin patch in Virginia. It’s located in Centreville, and it’s not your run-of-the-mill pumpkin patch—this place is a full extravaganza! This pumpkin patch even has a replica of Stonehege made out of styrofoam.

Visitors can learn about how to do farm chores and milk cows. There are hayrides, slides, and swings for the kids and live music for the adults. There’s even a tractor museum for those who love learning about mechanical stuff. Get lost with your friends in the corn maze, or take a quick walk through their interactive nature trail. I love that this place is pretty accessible for neurodivergent children and adults.

It’s impossible to have a bad time here. I recommend going on a weekday if possible. It opens on September 16th, so start planning your trip. They also have a haunted field which starts the evening of September 20 and ends on November 2, 2024.

It’s a more low-key event but kids will enjoy picking out a pumpkin to carve plus the proceeds go to local charities. It’s a good option if you’re short on time and not looking for many frills and thrills.

Nalls Produce: Free Pumpkin Patch in VA

Nalls Produce is another low-key pumpkin patch. There aren’t many rides, but the setup is super cute and perfect for photos. You can buy lots of pumpkin and fall produce. “Pumpkin Hill” opens on September 28th, and it’s free! Kids will love the big pile of pumpkins waiting for them to climb and choose from. Their pumpkins and gourds are locally grown, and this family-owned business has served the community for 30 years!

Round Hill Farm : Accessible Pumpkin Patch in Virginia

Round Hill Farm is the only pumpkin patch offering a 200-foot zipline and a 100-foot slide! It’s one of the best places to visit for fun activities for both adults and children. They have a corn haze and a hay haze. They even have a hay pyramid, which is perfect for photos. Kids will love the moon house or the train rides. There’s too much to list! This place is a fun option.

They open on September 21st, and you can save a few dollars if you buy their pre-sale ticket by September 17th. A season pass is about 45 dollars and is a great option if you plan on visiting a few times. They’re also wheelchair accessible, which is highly appreciated!

Temple Hall Farm : Pick Pumpkins in Virginia’s Countryside

Temple Hall Farm’s Fall Festival kicks off on September 23rd and ends on October 31st. Visitors can see all types of farm animals, like alpacas, cows, and sheep. There are also a lot of child-friendly games and activities like slides and wagon rides. You can even learn how to wrangle a cow. As a 4-H girlie, I love this place! It’s the perfect way to explore Virginia’s countryside and farm culture.

Admission is $15 per person, with a $3 discount on weekdays! Each ticket includes one pumpkin and sunflowers. Children under 2 can enter for free, but their admission does not include a pumpkin or flowers. I recommend bringing cash!
