Black-Owned Spas in the United States
Supporting Black-owned spas is a great way to support local businesses. A few days at the Day Spa can improve your mental health. I try to experience a new spa every trip and schedule regular visits when I’m home. It’s all part of my goal to romanticize my life in every way possible.
Spa experiences often focus on mental and emotional relaxation as much as physical relaxation. The ambiance, aromatherapy, and soothing music in spas create a serene atmosphere that can help reduce anxiety, improve mood, and enhance overall mental well-being.
There are less than 50 Black-owned day spas so please check out my list of Black-owned spas in the United States and add them to your itinerary.
Why Choose a Black-Owned Spa?
There are many reasons one would choose to support a Black-owned spa. Black skin and hair is very delicate and not all professionals know how to work with them. Recently, an influencer was badly burnt by an esthetician who used an incorrect laser hair removal tool on her. Some laser removal tools are not compatible with darker skin tones. This happens more frequently than we think. Choose a spa that specializes in your skin type.
