The best thing about apple picking in Virginia is that, unlike other places, our season isn’t too short. Our apples are available from August to October. I recommend visiting earlier in the season, just in case, as it’s not uncommon for orchards to run out of apples.
The apple-picking season lingers late into early October, depending on weather conditions and locations. Pink Lady or Fuji apples are usually ready for harvest later in the season, making combining a pumpkin and apple-picking trip with one trip easy. October is also the best time to visit and see lots of fall foliage.

Great Country Farms: The #1 Place for Apple Picking in VA
Located in the middle of Blue Ridge Mountains, Great Country Farms is family-friendly offering much more than just apple picking. The farm grows apples, strawberries, sunflowers, and much more.
In the fall, there are wagon rides, giant slides, jumping pillows, and even a corn maze. One of its most popular events is its Family Flashlight Corn Maze nights. From 6 to 8 pm, families are allowed to explore the farm after hours. There’s even a bonfire! Tickets start at about $10 a child.

Marker-Miller Orchards
Marker-Miller Orchards is a picturesque farm that offers over 20 varieties of apples throughout the season. Some of their popular varieties include Honey Crisp, Ginger Gold and Gala. Depending on the season, you can also pick your own blackberries, peaches, and flowers.

While Orr’s Farm Market is technically in West Virginia, it’s close enough to the Virginia border to be a favorite among Virginians.
