West Virginia offers several orchards and farms where you can pick apples during the season. I’ll go over my favorite apple orchards in West Virginia and the activities that they offer in this blog post.
When is Apple Picking Season in West Virginia?
Apple picking season in West Virginia usually starts in late August to early September. Depending on the variety, apple-picking season doesn’t usually end until October. Some orchards may have different picking schedules based on the types of apples they cultivate, so it’s a good idea to check with local orchards or agricultural extension services for the most accurate information.
Places to go Apple Picking in West Virginia
Blue Sky Apple Orchards
Blue Sky Orchards is a family-owned orchard specializing in various fruits, including blackberries, apples, peaches, and cherries. In the fall they offer apple picking at their family farm. Their orchards include Pink Lade, Candy Crisp, and Golden Delicious apple varieties. They also sell bottles of apple cider and apple butter. The views are gorgeous and definitely worth the trip.

West Virginia Apple Orchards: Reddington’s Farm & Orchard
Reddington’s provides a gorgeous apple orchard where visitors can pick their apples on their own time. You can find local crafts. Reddington’s is open on weekends from 10 AM to 5 PM, and appointments can also be arranged for visits outside of regular hours.

Apple Picking at Rellim Orchard
Established in 1880 by Abraham S. Miller and Susan Turner Miller, Rellim began as a dairy and nursery, specializing in fruits and garden plants. After Abraham died in 1929, his son Paul E. Miller Sr. transitioned the farm into a tree fruit orchard, focusing on cherries and apples by 1950. And it’s been in the family ever since. They offer locally grown apples, peaches, pears, and cherries, all available in season.
Fun Fact: Rellim is “Miller spelled backward.

Orr’s Farm Market
Orr’s Farm Market’s dedication to the community is truly admirable. As a family-owned apple orchard, they offer U-Pick opportunities for apples, strawberries, grapes, flowers, and more. Their apple picking season typically commences in August.
Throughout the summer months, they host lively Bluegrass music festivals and BBQ events featuring a plethora of kid-friendly activities.
Moreover, Orr’s Farm Market operates a CSA delivery program, providing farm-fresh items such as milk, jam, meats, and other produce directly from their farm to customers’ doorsteps. This initiative further exemplifies their commitment to providing quality goods while supporting local agriculture.

Marker-Miller Orchards : Apple Orchards in West Virginia
Apple-picking season begins at September 1st at Marker-Miller Orchards. Located in Winchester, just across the border in Virginia, Marker Miller Apple Orchard offers a wide range of apple varieties, pears, plums, apricots, and damsons. You’ll find Pink Lady, Goldrush and Gala apples here. You can also enjoy some sweets at their storefront. They have apple cider donuts, fudge, and ice cream.
Pets are not allowed inside the farm market unless they are certified service dogs. However, dogs are welcome on the rest of the property but make sure to keep your dog leashed.
